one congregation phenomenon i have observed in a variety of halls - older, not so model material brothers have a real chance with younger, attractive sisters - and often at the prodding of the young sisters parents and congregation members.. and if you have a little more scratch than the average jw brother (which isn't hard to do with a bunch of window washers), you really have an advantage.. a 40 year old man walking through the mall would have zero chances with an attractive 18+ year old girl.

but take that same man, who has been faithfully attending meetings and doing all the right things and put him in the kingdom hall and suddenly anything is possible.. sad, but true.. of course, who wants all the drama that comes with a girl that young - but it is something i have observed.. when i was in my early 20's and came back into "the truth", and i had a few dollars - and i had so many sisters tripping all over themselves for me... and the ages range from late teens to late 30's.

it was crazy.

My 36 year old ex husband just married a 19 year old girl last week. He of course had the full support of the congregation. Ewwwwwww

My children's grandmother tries to keep them from getting their burned home repaired....

i knew that jehovah's witnesses were callous and cruel but this just takes it to a new level.. my children's house was burned in a fire and their idiot mother (my ex wife) did not have insurance on the house.. home depot is trying to help them and has offered to donate materials to repair the house and has asked habitat for humanity to get involved to supply the labor.. the habitat for humanity district manager came to my children's house and met the home depot district manager and my children.. after they left my children's grandmother (who lives in the house) told them that if habitat for humanity is involved in fixing the house that she will refuse to live there any more because they are involved with christendom.

so, she is putting pressure on my ex wife to leave the house burned and leave my chlidren (her grandchildren) homeless.. my middle daughter said "well, we will miss you when you leave".

my youngest daughter said, "well i guess i won't be seeing you any more because i refuse to live in a burned house when people are offering to help fix it but you and my mother are so stupid and retarded that you won't let them help".. please tell me that my ex wife won't be stupid enough to go along with this nonsense.

If you ex-wife goes through with this insanity, can your children come and live with you?

If the state gets involved if child welfare is at risk, they will be comming to live with you anyway!

Younger or not-so-younger ... for whatever reason I don't really understand, I have found myself noticing far more often than not that JW women are extremely attractive, like, way more than some random sample of females in general. Many of them look like they could easily be models.

we all know what says ephesians 5:21-23 (nwt):.

21 be in subjection to one another in fear of christ.

22 let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the lord, 23 because a husband is head of his wife as the christ also is head of the congregation, he being a savior of [this] body.. others translations like kjv, read something like the nwt.. in the other day, i cross with some information in the net (youtube and other pages of religious ministers) about the subject of women's subjection to the men (husband) and saw that some people say that in the original greek the word subjection don't appear in the vers.

I think it would be worth remembering where the bible came from and how it was translated over the years.

During the middle ages up to the turn of the 20 century the bible was studied by monks and those with money who were literate. In preaching the bible was used to ensure order and moral order. As everyone believed that god made the world the bible could be used to enforce justice. In those days as well it was very much the man who was the head of the household, provider of housing and sustinance and thus the boss.

Thus in translation this was reflected. However the translation since has barely changed and the NWT just then takes if further!

In all truth the bible rules can be used and not used, argued and counter argued. Even christ said that the rules didn't matter for the life or welfare of a person, which is a point that is somewhat over looked by JW as it doesn't fit their doctrine.

My choice is not to use that rule! I think free thinking and besides I have enough trouble thinking for myself, let alone anyone else!

crb clearence will not keep children safe

there is so much talk on the news at the moment about people who workwith children or have access to children on a regular basis having crb clearence , i think this lulls parents into a false sense of security , i once saw a documentry on this subject and the policeman interviewed was saying that parents should not be concerning themselves so much with the registered sex offenders , but the 9 out of 10 offenders who were arrested but there was not enough evidence to secure a conviction so charges were dropped and also sex offenders are usually your family members and "friends" not a stranger on the sex offenders register anyway .

my childs abuser would have had a crb clearence while being a taxi driver at the same time as raping children for 20 years , it just meant he hadnt been caught yet ,not that he was trustwourthy .

holly wells and jessica chapman were murdered by ian huntley in 2002 , he had been reported on numerous occasions for underage sex and sexual assaults on young girls but got away with it every time (i dont think he even made it to court ) leaving him free to get a caretakers job at holly and jessicas school (they were 10 ,when he killed them ) he came across as a very "nice" man when he was interviewed on the news during the search for the girls !

I believe it has been changed and the ian huntly issue was the trigger. If you go on to the human rights pages there is or was a big issue, I haven't checked recently so I am not fully up to date over the information the police keep on each person and how long the data was kept. I don't think the issue was anyone wanted them not to have the data on serious crimes but more that people who were arrested by mistake were getting on the system too.

Basically a basic CRB check just says if you have any criminal records, or cautions, prision time.

However for certain jobs plus, those who into contact with children and vunerable people there is an extended crb clearnace policy which looks not only at what you have in the crb, but also arrests, investigations and anything else on file.

However as the jw don't have access to the extended crb as far as I am aware, can you imagine letting them have access to this data?

I think however the system is always going to be one step behind what is a massive problem, there are lots of people who have passed under the radar and the internet helps them no end. The facebook daycare worker was a prime example. On the other hand how much resource do you throw at the issue and at what price of civil liberty. I remember someone telling me that you are only 3 clicks on the internet from viewing something that would put you in jail. Should all those people be charged?
